First, I have to ask myself, “Why are you writing this book?” My reasoning is that I need to have an outlet to glorify God in my life and I trust you will see how wonderfully he has carried me through. Secondly, I have to ask “Why me?” There are many others who could write a book about how God is glorified through their life story. Is mine so different? I don’t think it is but I feel the Holy Spirit nudging me to write down my story and hopefully bring God the glory he deserves. Thirdly, I am asking myself “What now?” as I try to determine how many of the “God-incidences” in my life should be shared with you. I am praying that the Holy Spirit will be my guide and that he will remind me of everything that is worthy to share, in order to glorify God now and forever. I should clarify that the title of this book comes from God’s admonition to me after the car crash we were in on January 1, 2023. In that crash our son Craig was killed, my wife Jan’s back was broken in two places, and she was initially diagnosed as quadriplegic, and I had a couple of areas of bleeding in my brain. We were rear-ended by a car going 110MPH at 7:30 in the morning on Sunday as we made our way to church. The driver was high on alcohol and drugs and didn’t even remember driving. Happy New Year! As I began to process what had happened to us I heard the persistent voice of God telling me that I could not ask “Why?”, or “Why me?”, but only “What now?” In that process this book became part of that “What now?” May every experience I share with you be uplifting to your soul as I try to present God in all his glory. Maybe you have experienced a loss or trauma in your life and all you can ask is “Why?” and/or “Why me?” That is perfectly normal and if you examine the Bible you will be in good company with Moses, Job, David, and even Jesus on the cross when he asked, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matt. 27:46) I am not suggesting that you are wrong to ask God why, I am only saying that he told me I could not ask why. So here I am trying my best to fulfill my “What now?” I am praying for everyone who reads this book to be encouraged to discover their own “What now?”
