This Side of Nowhere

When she came to this time, she was laying on something soft. She realized her hands and feet were no longer tied together. She also realized her eyes were no longer covered and she no longer had a gag in her mouth. It was dark where she was. She looked around the room. She couldn’t see very well because of the darkness, but she could make out some kind of furniture in the middle of the room. She sat up and looked around. It was a small room. She could make out a door across the room. She jumped up and moved toward the door, but she bumped into the piece of furniture. It had a flat surface like some kind of table. She moved around it and continued to the door. She found the door knob and tried it. It wouldn’t turn. It was locked from the other side. She turned around. On the left side of the room was a window that had been boarded over. She moved toward it. Wide boards had been nailed over the opening. They had been placed tightly together leaving no spaces between them. She moved back to where she had started from and learned it was some kind of cot she had been laying on. She wondered what time it was. She wondered where she was. Why had this happened to her? What did these people want? And what would they do with her or to her? Oh Lord, please help me. Please be with me through whatever this is!
