The Wise Owl

My name is Owl.  Some people call me Wise; sometimes they call me Wiseguy but my name is just plain Owl.  I live in a barn.  I call my home a barn because barn sounds better than stable.  I live in a small country town called Bethlehem. 

Bethlehem is like every other small country town in the area.  Nothing much happens around here.  I have to say there has been some activity this past week.  A lot of visitors are coming to town something to do about paying taxes.  That is people business and I don’t pay a lot of attention to people business.  The little inn next to where I live is full and people are beginning to stay in homes of the town folks.  

I usually go out for dinner and dine on whatever looks good in the local eating spots.  I can stay home and eat as there are plenty of mice in the stable who dine on all the grain the other animals eat.  The grain fattens them just the way I like them.  Tonight I decided to dine at home.

My stable home has been quiet until tonight.  I was sleeping on the rafter right above the cow’s stall when I was awakened by intruders.  A man leading a donkey with a woman riding on it entered my stable home without even asking permission from us who live here.  I started to ask, “Whoo, Whoo let you in here.”
