Several years ago a calf kicked my leg and opened up a rather large cut that needed twenty-one stitches. I had a very prominent scar for a long time, but today that scar is almost nonexistent. The human body has a way of naturally healing itself. I have other scars that mark my body, but the scars are just part of me and my history. I am not proud of these scars because each one reminds me of a foolish act or an inner or outer health problem. Life happens and leaves its mark. I also have unseen scars in my mind and heart. The cause of these scars hurt more than the kick of the calf or any doctor’s scalpel. Mind and heart wounds take longer to heal because we often pick at them and don’t let them heal. The body wounds heal and become part of us as a scar. The mind or heart wounds often stay alive if we allow them to fester into even worse open sores. The mind and heart wounds can be healed like the body wounds. Both are healed through God. The body wounds are healed through the body’s created makeup. The mind and heart wounds are healed by our faith and surrender to God’s healing work within us. He is the only one who can take the pain away and allow the wound to become a scar. May we learn from the scars of life so the next wound will not take as long to scar. As long as we live, we will experience both types of wounds. Remember only God heals both types of wounds. The scars are reminders of the way God loves and takes care of us so we grow closer to Him, trust Him more, and heal faster

God allows some wounds for our good and His purpose. He is God, and we are not. Learn the lesson Job learned. God is present in all things. He never allows more than we are able to withstand, and when we accept that we will grow into healing.
