Marriage is God’s divinely ordained relationship of a man and woman in which they enter a oneness and hopefully become one in body, mind, and spirit. It is God’s intent that every Christian husband and wife become one, and yet we are all very much aware of the strife that comes between Christian couples today, and the ever-increasing rate of divorce and sexual permissiveness, even in so-called Christian marriages. In fact, divorce is becoming so common among Christians that Christians are beginning to act like there is nothing wrong with it. You must remember, God’s grace is sufficient to see you through all your marital problems and difficulties.

Understand it has always been Jesus’ intent for a Christian marriage to last a lifetime, one marriage as a Christian, unless your spouse passes away.

There are many different issues and excuses that divide husbands and wives. No two people who believe themselves to be in love enter marriage expecting it to fail; however, before long the honeymoon does end, and the romance can begin to fade. In today’s Christian society, we hear constant complaints of incompatibility, lack of understanding, physical abuses, sexual abuses, and financial pressures, to name just a few of the excuses used in vain attempts to justify bailing out of unpleasant marriage situations. Remember, God’s grace is sufficient to see you through all your marital problems and difficulties.

Our Christian society has accepted divorce as a civilized procedure for getting rid of marital problems, but no matter how civilized the process, divorce in almost all cases is a confession of human failure by a careless loss of true love and forgiveness.

Unfortunately, too many Christians know God’s principles for a Christian marriage; however, they are not applying them to their daily married lives, which is enduring love and lasting forgiveness; “until death do us part.”

It is so important for husbands and wives to share or to converse in calm, clear communications. In fact, for a truly happy, successful marriage, it is a must.

Most newly married couples look forward to the times when they will have children. They don’t always think about it being one more mouth to feed, one more body to clothe, and one more person who will need your love and demand attention. Being a parent is an awesome responsibility, and one that should be thoroughly enjoyed. It not only takes loving care with maturing Christian spirituality to be a good parent – it also takes time and money. God causes your spiritual growth; however, it is your responsibility as parents to raise your children up correctly in Jesus’ Word. It is vitally important for parents to start training themselves and their children to read and study God’s Word as soon as they become a Christian, so their spirit can grow in Christ Jesus. As you read and study, you will begin to realize why God’s Word is called the Living Word. Start teaching your children as early as possible to learn God’s Word correctly for their own salvation, so that they will learn to handle fleshly obedience and responsibility, as well as spiritual obedience and responsibilities. Learning God’s Word is extremely important. Remember, Jesus says some fall away because they don’t have a firm root.

Take the time to examine yourself. In all honesty, have your interests as a Christian become divided? Are you honestly obeying Jesus’ commands? What are you and your Christian family always talking about? Do you find that you and your families normal, everyday conversation to be about the internet, cell phones, health, sports, work, the high cost of houses, clothes, food and fuel, traffic, money and things, weather, politics, school, parties, church parties and fear of what is happening in our country? This is not saying, by any means, that these subjects or topics are wrong to talk about. However, if these are the subjects that you are constantly talking about to other Christians, rather than what you are learning from God’s Word, then there is a major problem in your spiritual and fleshly life. You must learn to abide in Jesus’ peace by obeying all of Jesus’ commands and instructions and those of His apostles throughout the New Testament.

Where have you learned your spiritual belief? Are you growing up spiritually in God’s Holy inspired written Word through the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit, or are you growing up under man’s idea and opinion of belief in God’s Word?

As a Christian in this country, where there are a lot of different religious people, have you deliberately deceived yourself by not accepting, not believing and not obeying all of Jesus’ Word in the New Testament? What commandments in the New Testament do you consistently obey? Which ones do you disobey?

Do you really love people because of Christ Jesus’ love in you, or do you just like being involved with your church or Sunday-school? True believers have existed down through the centuries, those who truly believe and obey all of Jesus’ commands and those of His apostles.

In most cases, it is not what you do for a living, it is about the Christian living you do. For you personally, when is enough, enough? Enough money and enough things and enough of believing man’s word over God’s Word? It’s time for a loving Christian reality check. Who is really in control of your spiritual belief and your life? Who have you truly put in charge of what you have come to believe? Is it Jesus’ Word through the entire New Testament or is it your church?

“These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.” (1 John 2:26-27)
