The Highs and Lows of Life
Yesterday the sky was blue
The sun was very bright
And somewhere in between the two
My restless heart took flight
It soared among the trees so high
Then in the valley landed
The force became so powerful
That I could hardly stand it
I cried, Dear God, what’s happening?
Why did you let me go?
His reply returned to me
Because I love you so
I take you through the highs and lows
To show you what you’re made of
That even though you’re brave at times
There’re still things you’re afraid of
For if I never gave you night
And only gave you day
You would never seek my face
Neither would you pray
It’s only in the darkness
That you seek the light
It’s only in the valley
That you learn to fight
It’s only when you’re broken
That you need to mend
Now this is when you make me
Your Savior and your Friend.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer;
