The author is appealing to the reader to realize that, what Jesus died for was not for Himself, but for you and me. If we follow Him, He will not lead us astray, but following Him is not easy because the tide is against us. The reader is reminded that we are living in a corrupt world, corrupted by the devil. Jesus loves us, but it appears we are going against that love. We had lost the way, but He is leading the way.
The resurrection is God’s plan that was made before we knew it. The whole plan of salvation was not only the resurrection but, all what happened were building blocks. It started with the Son being born of the spirit, brought up like any other boys. Who knew that this son who was growing was the Messiah.
The reason why He came, was to restore our relationship with God that was strained by the devil.
Sometimes we want to build our relationship with him, but occasionally we are preoccupied with earthly things that will find our relationship strained. The reason why we should also try to build relations with Him is that if we do that, we will know that we are working towards our eternal life because He is eternity.
The other way we can build relationship with Him is to also to allow Him to use us as He wishes. He can build us and make us like He himself. He is perfect, and if He is in our hearts, we will be seen by our deeds, which means He will manifest through us. To be following Him means that we are walking in a well-lit path. By following Him, we know that we are following the man who will not abandon us because He loved us before we loved Him. To follow Him we have to be honest people to always keep our words, as we are emulating Him. We know that we are following the man who does what He preaches. He will not lead us astray, but will always lead us into the path of righteousness.
The advice is to always walk joining hands with Him. Reading the scriptures will make us know Him well. When He is leading us, we have to be obedient, and allow Him to teach us His own ways which are always leading us to salvation. He will not lead us astray because His mission here on earth was to lead us to salvation.
It is a fact of life that if He had not risen, then what were Christians going to tell the world? But now they have somewhere to base their arguments on. If they are asked, what are you calling us for? They are able to say, we are calling you to salvation. The good news is that Jesus himself, through the Holy Spirit will help people who call on His name to be able to convince those who might be in doubt about the resurrection. This event is a convincing fact that He is alive.
This resurrection we are talking about, is just a fulfilment of what was prefigured at the fall of man. God said, He was putting enmity between the serpent and the off spring of a woman: hence, the head of the serpent was crushed at the resurrection. At the same time, a new covenant has been formulated, that whoever is faithful will be saved. Those who lived before the new covenant, were saved through His grace alone.
Even though there are those clear signs, man chooses to walk his own way which he finds to be a broader way because it pleases him. God is faithful to us that He gives us those who plead with us of the dangers ahead so that, when we choose our way of destruction, we have been fore warned.
In our journey of life, we always come to the cross roads, it becomes difficult to decide which way to take, but he promised to send us the comforter, who tells us which way to take.
We also have scriptures to guide us into the right path that leads to righteousness. Our Lord Jesus Christ died for us in order to redeem us. All that He went through at Calvary, was to buy us back, so that we are fit for heaven.
By dying on the cross He was putting a seal on the new covenant. The old covenant which was replaced was like:
The temple had a Holy place divided by a curtain, inside the curtain was yet another which was called holy of holies where one priest would go in, once a year with all our sins of the year. This curtain was torn when Jesus died on the cross. Meaning that there was no more any need for someone to confess my sins for me. I will go direct to Jesus and confess my sins for myself and no one goes to the Father but through Him, the pain that He went through at Calvary showed His love for us. We have to return that love by loving and obeying that whatever we want from the Father we go through Him, because Him and the Father are one. By having faith in Him we know that we are in the right direction to the father because He is the way. To follow Him we know that we are being truthful to ourselves and others because He is the life. We know we are moving to eternal life because he is the life.
If we take Him as our personal savior, we will not go wrong because He is the master key, who can unlock every situation. Believing in Him means eternal life: the way we do things must reflect that we are being guided by the Holy Spirit. Also, the scriptures guide us into the right path, which is a sinless one. We must always remember that the man we are asked to follow, is the one who has all authority in heaven and on earth. He will be our light through the life. The good news is that He has not kept that power to Himself, but imparted to us.
His love to us is beyond comparison, it is not easy to die on the cross instead of your friend. In response, He wants us to win souls to Him. What we do must be showing that we want to bring souls to Him. We can only do this by living a Christian life which is a pure life.
The resurrection was a response to what was prefigured at the fall of man. Let us recognize the resurrection, and our salvation is guaranteed. Christianity means following and doing His will.
