Paris was lost in his silent reverie when he heard the familiar hinge creaking of his office door. He turned to see the church caretaker, Dan Allen, peering sheepishly from behind the slightly ajar door. “Have you got a minute, pastor?” “Sure, Dan; what do you need?” Paris braced himself for what he knew was coming. One more problem, something else he would add to his little “red wagon” to pull uphill. “Well, I haven’t confirmed it yet, but I think Chester is back.” Paris dropped his head, rubbed his temples, and responded: “I thought we took care of him last spring?” “I thought so, too. I guess someone forgot to tell Chester. It appears we may have sent a relative of his packing instead.” The legendary Chester had either returned or managed to successfully hide out somewhere within the confines of Rock Solid church for the last six months. His official scientific classification is “Marmotini,” a class of ground squirrel everyone else calls a chipmunk. The leadership team at Rock Solid had come to refer to Chester as their “Church Munk” ever since the sister Shelley incident. Sister Shelley, the primary Sunday School teacher, trailed by her terrorized wide-eyed students, came running down the hall proclaiming the frightening pronouncement: “There’s a “Church Munk” in our Chip!” Everyone knew Sister Shelley’s penchant for occasionally interchanging words in a sentence. Still, once her proclamation had been deciphered, every able-bodied man within earshot ran to her classroom, ready to battle the fuzzy intruder. Chester was as terrified of Sister Shelley and her high-decibel squeal as she was of him and quickly decided it best to beat a hasty retreat from the scene of the ear-splitting encounter. Nobody could remember who initially referred to the little guy as Chester, but the name and honorary title of “Church Munk” stuck.

About the Book
This is the second book about Pastor Paris Pearson’s ministerial journey. In the first book, “The Perils of Pastor Pearson (The Parking Space and the Promised Land),” we are introduced to a young pastor and his growing family who excitedly receive the calling to his first pastorate. In “There’s a Chip in our Church Munk!” Paris has been pastoring Rock Solid Church for 15 years. Here is a rare glimpse behind the curtain of what it’s like to carry the responsibility of the pulpit and the pew on your very human shoulders. About the Author
Bill Smith has held various ministerial positions and currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the Northside Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia, a role he has held for the last 39 years. He has always viewed his calling as a privilege to serve Christ in a relatable and often humorous approach to Christian living. Brother Bill, as his congregation knows him, takes the responsibility of the gospel very seriously but recognizes the wonder of God’s grace as He deals with imperfect people. After many years of ministry, his appreciation for the importance of Christ, His message, and the church in today’s world continues to grow. Bill is married to Paula, his college sweetheart, and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have two children, two grandchildren, and two very special additions: our wonderful son-in-law and the sweet young lady who married their grandson. Bill is an Ordained Minister in the Church of God and lives in the Atlanta area.
