(Page 22-23): On Easter, we went to church and sang songs. After church we had an Easter egg hunt. Special days seem to make me sad and sometimes they make me cry. I found the golden egg and that made me laugh and feel happy. My parents say it's okay to laugh and be happy, even if my grandpa isn't here anymore.
(Page 26-27): One day, my dad woke we up and said, “today is your grandpa’s birthday!” I said, “I hope she is having fun.” Do they have birthday parties when some is in a cloud, I wondered. Dad said we could make a cake for Grandpa’s birthday and sing “Happy Birthday” to him. I got to help decorate the cake with lots of sprinkles. When we sang to him, I sang extra loud because I wanted to be sure he could hear me. I also drew a picture of him and me fishing, with a rainbow. Mom asked me to tell her about my picture. She wrote things on the back of the picture and told me she would save it for me. When I got into bed, I whispered, “I hope you had a good birthday, Grandpa.”

Through this experience, the young turtle learns that it is okay to cry, laugh and be happy, as well as to forever love Grandpa!
In this beautifully illustrated and touching tale, a young turtle learns how to deal with loss and grief after the turtle’s grandpa dies. The turtle is left believing Grandpa is watching and sending love from his heavenly cloud. This book provides numerous recommendations for adults supporting the grieving child. About the Author
Kim Vesey is a registered nurse and certified spiritual director who has worked in the hospice field for over thirty-five years. In addition to caring for many patients, Kim has also suffered unexpected personal losses that included her husband, her father and her 29-year-old daughter, Sarah. Kim, who is also mother to son, Patrick and grandmother to Sarah’s son Warren, resides in Beavercreek, OH. What Cloud is My Grandpa In? is her fourth book in a planned series of children’s books on grief.
