Discover the God of Your Life

One may ask about how does it profit us to study the qualities of God. This seems like a question that deserves an answer before we proceed. Otherwise, what is the point of such a study? The strong and urgent answer here is that God wants us to conduct an ongoing study directed to this subject. Scripture addresses this question with many answers. One of the most interesting and personal is found in the book of Deuteronomy. The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions. (Deut. 29:29 NLT) Before we enter a study like this it is important to know what God expects us to know and to be accountable. At the same time we should be aware of what we are not accountable and should not concern ourselves. God's revealed instructions in scripture are our responsibility. We are taught in scripture that we are to be transformed from this world. If this is so, what is the goal of our transformation? What better goal can we set than that of the qualities of God that humans can use and adopt with God's help? This requires a renewed human in the mold of the qualities of God that we are capable of adopting.
