INTRODUCTION
We have been called by God for the salvation of our souls, in order to live a life surrendered in adoration to God; but also to have a productive life in all aspects. The child of God has been rescued from the world, transformed by God, and empowered to serve Christ, the church, and others. After baptism and conversion to Christ, the Christian must dedicate his entire life to serving Him. Therefore, serving must be one of the most beautiful obligations that the believer can develop in this world. When the child of God serves the Lord and other people, they can find purpose in their life and live with satisfaction that lasts forever. God did not call anyone to warm pews but to work on His vast work.
Over time we have observed that many people come to church, convert, get baptized, walk for a while, but then they do not find the meaning of being a Christian and do not know why they are in church. Others begin with great enthusiasm, with great desire, they want to take over the world, they want to do many things for God, but after a while they give up and remain static without doing anything.
Many Christians are consumers and not reproducers, that is, they continually need to be carried and sustained since they have not grown enough to support themselves. So we must ask, why is this happening? Why are many people in the local church inactive? Why do many Christians not know what to do with their lives? These are usually people who believe that just by going to church they are already serving the Lord, but the truth is, they are not. This happens because they have a wrong concept of their calling and what it means to truly serve God.
This book has been written for the purpose of helping the child of God to know why he is here on earth, and how he can live a productive life in Christ. The purpose of this book is to prepare and train newly baptized children of God who want to serve God, but don't know how or where to do it. Also, try to fill the need of those pastors who have new people who want to serve God. Therefore, this book can serve as a material for the preparation of male and female servants for the work of God. Ultimately, the child of God will learn that his calling will materialize by serving in a ministry of the local Church.
In this book the reader will learn about the call of God in general, its meaning and its history in the sacred scriptures. In addition, he will also learn that we have been called to serve, this being the most important call for the child of God after salvation.
We will learn about the purpose of God for which we have been called and we will see how it is manifested and fulfilled in the life of each one. The child of God, moreover, must know that when God calls for a ministry, He Himself trains and prepares those he is going to use. Therefore, in this book the reader will also learn about the formation and training process that God gives to all those that he is going to use in his work. We will learn, therefore, the process of God in men of the Old Testament, such as Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, among others. We will delve into their lives and how God dealt with them and what we can learn from their processes.
Then we will visit the school of the Master of Galilee to see how Jesus deals with those He calls. There we will learn about the way Jesus called his disciples and the work he did in each of them. Naturally, this will teach us the training school of the Great Master, Jesus of Nazareth.
The Christian must know that along with God's call, training and preparation also comes God's endowment to get the job done. It is because of what we will learn about the potential that the child of God has received in his life and the way in which he can put it into action in the service of others. This is possible thanks to the fact that the servant of God has been nourished by the Holy Spirit with a special gift to develop the Christian ministry. Therefore, we will delve into the study of spiritual gifts and we will know what they are, how they are developed and what are the effects they have on the development of the ministry.
We will learn to identify them and we will seek to know which ones we have received exclusively to function in the service of others. In addition, we will make a brief study on the preparation of the servant of God, and we will expose some practical advice to improve the development of the servants of the Lord and how we can prepare ourselves to serve better.
Finally, we will learn about the ministry of the local church, which is the ultimate goal of this book. The reader will learn the different departments of the local church, what they are, what they do, in addition to their responsibilities so that we can identify the possible areas of service in the church. In this way we can connect with the ministry of service to which we have been called.
It is hoped that the reader of this book can awaken in “the servant, or server” the hunger to serve God and serve others; especially to the community of faith. That they can locate themselves in the Church and the community that is the field of work that God has given them. Therefore, they are expected to engage in a ministry of service in the local church and to make themselves available to the pastor, to the authorities of the church, that is, to the competent leadership, to be able to serve where they are needed.
